Bearcats standouts off to CIS programs

Wednesday, July 28th 2010

The Truro Bearcats announced on Wednesday that three of their key players from the 2009-10 season will play for three different Universities this fall. Eric Louis-Seize, Dana Fraser and Ben MacAskill will play University hockey while earning their educations. Forward Louis-Seize will suit up at Concordia University in Montreal while high scoring teammate Dana Fraser will play for the UPEI Panthers.  Defenseman Ben MacAskill will be on the blueline for the Dalhousie Tigers.

"Eric and Ben who played major junior prior to coming to the MHL were great players and they fit in well with our club", said Bearcats GM and Head Coach Shawn Evans. "It's very good for us to see these guys move on to University hockey to continue their hockey careers and further their education".

"I'm very proud of Dana Fraser and what he has accomplished", added Evans."Dana came from out of nowhere and had an exceptional career in the league. He was as good of a player as anyone in the league. Seeing him recruited in this way is great for our club and the league. He didn't play any major junior hockey but was still recognized as he was a stand out in the MHL. I think it bodes well for the future for players that are looking to get noticeced knowing that opportunities can come about when you play at this level."

Another Bearcat is very close to confirming his spot at St. Thomas University. Yuri Cheremetiev reported that he is very close to securing his place with the Tommies this fall.
