Amherst Ramblers Name Corey Crocker as General Manager

Wednesday, July 28th 2010

The Executive of the Amherst Ramblers Jr. “A” Hockey Club voted unanimously to name Corey Crocker as the General Manager for the hockey club for the 2010 – 2011 season. In his first move as General Manager, Crocker has appointed Rambler Assistant Coach Jeff Lewis to the Head Coach position. “It makes an almost seamless transition for the Hockey Club,” said GM Crocker. “Jeff knows the hockey operations of the club very well and he knows all the players in the Rambler system, I am confident he will do a great job as head coach and lead this team to the playoffs.”

“The entire executive is very excited about the upcoming season, and seeing some of the hard work pay off,” said club President Michael Hunter. “With the General Manager and Coaching positions now in place, we can focus on a sell out crowd for opening night on Saturday September 11th against the Miramichi Timberwolves.”

Season tickets will be available for sale next week, and we are in the process of preparing the sponsorship packages for the upcoming season. “We’re going to begin contacting all of last year’s sponsors over the next couple of weeks,” stated Robert Bird. “There’s a lot of work to be done in a very short period of time, and at this late date we are committed to the same sponsorships and price structure as last year. We’re also going to be adding some new sponsorship opportunities to help support both the team and the sponsors.”

“One we are particularly excited about is the 7th Player. Each week a minor hockey player will be selected as the 7th Player. They will actually go on the ice with the team during the warm-up and participate in any center ice ceremonies. It’s been a big hit in other areas, so we’re expecting the same response in Amherst. One thing is certain, its gong to be thrilling for the young hockey players selected.”

“The ultimate goal of this hockey club is to host and win the Fred Page Cup in 2013. In order to accomplish this we are going to need the long term support of our sponsors, members and most importantly the fans,” said President Hunter. “Time constraints do not allow for a complete overhaul of the off-ice operations prior to opening night, but we are working on some very exciting new ideas which we know people will notice immediately”.

One thing people are sure to notice is the recently acquired Rambler Community Lottery system. “It’s identical to the one used by the Moncton Wildcats,” said Hunter. “It’s a great system that let’s people see the prize pot build. We are also going to partner with other community groups to share the proceeds. For example the lottery will soon be set-up at the YMCA. We’re hoping other community groups will come on board as well.”
